Role Summary:
The PE Technician is responsible for the installation, joining, maintenance, and testing of polyethylene (PE) pipelines used for water, gas, sewage, and industrial applications. The role requires knowledge of PE pipe welding, fittings, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. PE Pipe Installation & Joining
- Install PE pipelines as per project drawings and layouts.
- Perform butt fusion welding, electrofusion welding, and mechanical jointing of PE pipes.
- Ensure proper alignment, measurement, cutting, and preparation of pipes.
2. Testing & Inspection
- Conduct pressure testing, leakage checks, and visual inspections.
- Identify defects or faults and perform corrective actions.
- Maintain records of test results, jointing logs, and daily activity reports.
3. Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine checks on PE pipelines and associated fittings.
- Repair damaged sections, leaks, or improper joints.
- Replace worn-out components and ensure long-term pipeline integrity.
4. Site Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineers, Supervisors, and Contractors at the site.
- Follow technical guidelines, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of PE pipes and welding machines.
Skills & Qualifications:
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Plumbing, Pipe Fitting, or related field.
- Certification or experience in PE pipe welding (butt fusion / electrofusion) preferred.
- Knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, valves, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read basic technical drawings and follow SOPs.
- Familiarity with tools like pipe cutters, scrapers, clamps, welding machines, etc.
